Welcome to the second Choirs in Harmony newsletter. If you are new to the choirs I hope you will enjoy looking at the background to this project on this website along with the first newsletter. There are recent photos of the Diamond Choir rehearsing throughout this newsletter.
When a group from our choirs visited the Diamond Choir last year, we met several new Diamonds who had joined since the UK visit in 2006. They were Gladstone Maqwathi (related to Nomsi) (bass), Trevor Mashiani (tenor), Antonia Mashike (alto), Elsa Mashishi (alto), Diketso Madisa (alto), Issac Moyo (tenor) and Tebogo Mphahlele(bass).
Since that visit there are two more new faces, Margaret Mongalo (tenor) and David Mokwena (bass).

Diamond Choir Planning Day
The Diamond Choir are planning two fundraising concerts in August and November
They are also planning to make a CD. Hilary has offered to send them all the tracks recorded at the concerts while over here, in case they want to include some of them.
At the end of the meeting the Diamond Choir members vowed to make a renewed commitment to the course and objective of the choir. Everyone signed the constitution as part of recommitting to the choir activities.
Fund Raising by UK choirs
The first end of term Bring and Buy stalls at the three choirs raised £381!
Three fundraising concerts are planned for dates around World Aids Day (December 6th)
Volcano Friday 4th December, venue to be confirmed.
VocalAntics Saturday December 5th at Christ Church, Malvern Road, Cheltenham
Heart & Soul Friday 11th December at the George Watson Memorial Hall, Tewkesbury
The theme of the concerts will be Seasonal and Christmas songs from around the world.
Choirs In Harmony steering committee is looking into various ways in which we can continue low key fundraising along side the concerts. Ideas so far include:
A sponsored walk and sing in the Spring
Continuing the end of term bring and buy event which was so successful this summer
Sponsorship – e.g. The cost of the concert venue in Tewkesbury has been sponsored by one individual choir member.
